Legal Disclaimer
The plainest possible statement of what CaseGuardian is and is not. If anything here contradicts a marketing page, this page wins.
1. CaseGuardian is not a law firm
CaseGuardian L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quantum Companies Global L.L.C. (“CaseGuardian”), is a record-keeping software company. We are not lawyers. We do not practice law. We do not provide legal advice. Nothing on this site, in our marketing, in our app, in our support correspondence, or in any communication with our staff is legal advice or creates an attorney-client relationship.
If you need legal advice about your specific situation, consult a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.
2. We don’t promise admissibility
Whether any specific capture is admitted as evidence depends on the rules of evidence in your jurisdiction, the facts of your case, how the material was captured, and whether a competent witness can authenticate it. We have no control over any of those things. We engineer to a high preservation standard. We do not guarantee an admissibility determination.
3. We don’t promise an outcome
Custody, restraining orders, civil claims, employment matters, criminal proceedings, and the rest are decided by people who do not work for CaseGuardian. A well-preserved record helps. It does not guarantee. We make it credible. The court decides whether it’s convincing.
4. You are responsible for recording-law compliance
U.S. recording law varies state by state. A majority of states are one-party consent; a significant minority — including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington — are all-party (two-party) consent. The list is not exhaustive. Recording in violation of applicable law may be a criminal offense and may render the recording inadmissible. When in doubt, do not record, and consult a qualified attorney before you do.
The Service may surface region-based reminders. Those prompts are convenience features only. They do not constitute legal advice.
5. We are not for emergencies
CaseGuardian is not a panic button, alarm system, medical-alert system, or emergency-response service. Do not rely on the Service to summon help. We do not monitor your captures in real time. We have no technical means of reading sealed content.
If you are in immediate danger or witnessing an emergency, call your local emergency services directly:
- United States & Canada: 911
- European Union and most of Europe: 112
- United Kingdom: 999
- National Domestic Violence Hotline (U.S.): 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788
5A. Bitcoin verification is not adjudication
CaseGuardian uses the Bitcoin blockchain via the OpenTimestamps calendar network to anchor cryptographic fingerprints (32-byte SHA-256 hashes) of your captures. A successful verification proves that the fingerprint was present at or before a specific Bitcoin block. This is an independent cryptographic timestamp, not a notarization. No notary is involved, and it does not verify anyone’s identity.
Verification does not:
- Authenticate who captured the file.
- Prove that the contents of the file are truthful, complete, or representative.
- Establish admissibility under the rules of evidence in any jurisdiction.
- Bind any court, tribunal, agency, mediator, or other decision-maker to give the material any particular weight.
Verification is math. Admissibility, weight, and legal effect remain the province of the court, the rules of evidence, and your lawyer. You are not buying, holding, or transacting in Bitcoin. The blockchain is used solely as a public, tamper-proof ledger of fingerprints. CaseGuardian L.L.C. is not registered as a money service business and does not engage in cryptocurrency activity.
6. AI features are convenience features
The AI helper is opt-in per item, off by default, and runs on minimal extracted data after an on-device PII redaction pass strips your name, phone, email, address, and the names of the people in your life. The redacted item is sent to our AI sub-processor, Anthropic, for the limited purpose of producing the output you asked for. Anthropic is contractually prohibited from training on or retaining your content. Outputs are convenience features — they are not legal opinions, not substitutes for an attorney’s independent review, and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing all content before transmitting it.
7. Engineering claims are engineering, not legal guarantees
References to “tamper-evident,” “sealed by design,” “court-grade,” “chain of custody,” “client-controlled encryption,” or “Bitcoin-anchored” describe engineering properties, not legal conclusions. The math is real. The legal effect of that math, in any specific proceeding, depends on factors we do not control.
8. Governing law & this page wins
