1. Campaign description (matches the four use cases below)
CaseGuardian is a court-grade evidence preservation app used by parents, guardians, journalists, caregivers, and their attorneys to document legal matters. SMS is used for four discrete, end-user-initiated purposes. Every message either (a) confirms an action the end user just took inside the app, or (b) delivers a security credential the recipient must hold to access materials the sender explicitly shared with them. No third-party messaging runs through our number. We do not sell or share phone numbers.
The opt-in to receive transactional SMS happens the moment an end user enters their own phone number into the app and taps a clearly-labeled call-to-action (Screen A and Screen B below). The opt-in to receive promotional SMS is separate, optional, unchecked-by-default, and lives in Settings (Screen C). A user can use the full transactional functionality of CaseGuardian without ever opting in to promotional SMS, and can withdraw the promotional opt-in at any time without affecting transactional security messages.
2. The three in-app opt-in screens
Faithful renderings of the three screens where SMS consent is collected in the CaseGuardian mobile app. Every label, disclosure, and call-to-action text shown here matches the text in production exactly.
Account holder, 2FA enrollment
Add a phone for two-factor sign-in
We will text you a one-time code at sign-in and when you authorize a new device.
Account holder, create a sealed share
Send to your attorney
The recipient will get a one-time access code by SMS and the share link by separate email. They must verify both before the package decrypts.
Account holder, optional marketing opt-in
Optional updates
You can use the full CaseGuardian app without enabling this.
Optional · off by defaultEvery opt-in event (account ID, IP address, UTC timestamp, exact disclosure text shown) is logged and retained for 4 years to satisfy carrier and regulatory consent-proof requirements. Logs are available to Sent.dm and to regulators on request.
3. Sample messages, mapped 1:1 to the four use cases
Each sample below names the specific use case it satisfies in the campaign registration. Every promotional and transactional message contains brand identification and STOP / HELP instructions.
CaseGuardian: Your verification code is 482913. It expires in 10 minutes. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.
CaseGuardian: A new device just signed in to your account from Sheridan, WY. If this wasn't you, open the app and tap Lock account immediately. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.
[Account holder name] is sharing CaseGuardian evidence with you. A link follows separately by email. Enter this code when prompted: 7294. Expires in 1 hour. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.
New in CaseGuardian: faster attorney packages. Build and seal a case file in minutes. Open the app to try it. Reply STOP to opt out of updates. Msg & data rates may apply.
4. Opt-out (STOP) and Help (HELP)
End users can cancel CaseGuardian SMS at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. They will receive a single confirmation message and no further SMS from CaseGuardian unless they opt in again from inside the app. Replying HELP returns our support contact information. End users can also email support@case-guardian.com for opt-out assistance.
STOP applied to a transactional opt-in stops all SMS from CaseGuardian for that number. STOP applied while only the marketing opt-in is active removes the marketing consent only; transactional security messages continue (per the account holder’s separate, still-active transactional opt-in) until they STOP again or remove their number from the account.
5. Privacy & data handling
Phone numbers collected by CaseGuardian are used only to deliver the messages the user has opted into. We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers, opt-in data, or consent records with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing. Phone numbers entered for case-share recipients are stored encrypted and used only to send the specific share message and to verify recipient identity when the link is opened. Full data-handling detail in our Privacy Policy; full consent disclosure in our SMS Consent Policy; full Terms of Service in terms.html.
